ACCESSIBILITY

We aim to make this event as accessible as possible within the space of the Rising Sun Arts Centre where the event is being hosted. Our welfare team will be wearing high-visibility vests, please ask us if you have any access questions or requests! All other volunteers will be wearing t-shirts with the DIY Pride logo; they may also be able to help, but may show you to a person in a high-visibility vest if they are unsure. We are asking all visitors to wear a mask while inside the building (read our masking policy here). If you have any concerns about this, please talk to a member in a high-visibility vest.

Outside the venue, the pavement has few dropped curbs and is about wide enough for two people to walk side-by-side, however cars pass on the road rather frequently and can be relatively close to the pavement.

The side entrance of the building will be the main entrance on the day as it provides level access. This is found on the right-hand side of the building through the outside space. Volunteers will be visible and checking tickets prior to entry. The front door is also the main fire exit for the event space and is not wheelchair accessible as it has a single step over 15cm.

The outside space is all one level but the ground is not completely even, including dips for drainage. If you need a chair to sit while outside, please request one from one of the volunteers. The outside space will have food, community stalls and workshops.

The downstairs of the Rising Sun Arts Centre is wheelchair accessible. There are two gender neutral toilets including sinks on the ground floor; one is an accessible toilet with baby change facilities and an emergency red cord alert system. The bar area is also wheelchair accessible, however there are no lowered countertops. The downstairs event space will hold workshops during the day. There will be posters showing the workshop details around the building. The Rising Sun Arts Centre does not have a hearing loop.

There will be a member of staff by the information and wellbeing desk in the bar area. The wellbeing desk will have masks, earplugs, sanitary products, fidget/stims, condoms, and sexual health information. We will also have a list of the artists and photos of their work in case you are unable to access the upstairs art market and would like them to bring their work down.

The upstairs of the building is not wheelchair accessible and has approximately 18 steps (including two turns) to access. The steps are relatively steep, weathered, and narrow. The upstairs will hold an art market and a separate quiet space. There are no toilets upstairs.

This is a dog friendly venue, however please ensure dogs are kept on a leash and are well-behaved. If indoors, dogs behaving inappropriately will be asked to leave.

### Evening Cabaret
This event will be a mixture of seated and standing in the downstairs event area. Please feel free to get up and stretch or move around when you need to. You can enter and exit the main hall throughout the show whenever you need to, and the upstairs quiet room will be available throughout. There will be a 20 minute interval half way through the cabaret. There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor, and the bar area is also wheelchair accessible, however there are no lowered countertops to the bar. This event will contain loud noises - there are no flashing lights. We will provide projected lyrics to songs and scripts where possible. Rising Sun Arts Centre does not have a hearing loop.
